Deepika Padukone can pretty much be complimented for the variety of roles that she has been picking up ever since playing the dual role of a Diva and a bubby girl in 'Om Shanti Om'.
This was followed by a confident single working woman in 'Bachna Ae Haseeno', a model/fighter in 'Chandni Chowk To China', an independent girl who takes some time to listen to her heart in 'Love Aaj Kal' and very recently, a young urban corporate woman in 'Karthik Calling Karthik'.
What has been noticed though, especially in her last couple of films, is the entirely non-filmy style that she has adopted for her character. Has that been a conscious move?
"Yes, whether it is 'Love Aaj Kal' or 'Karthik Calling Karthik', the performances were meant to be very real and relatable. That was the requirement of the film and the characters.
I had to adapt to a different acting style which was quite a task, especially while working on 'Karthik Calling Karthik' because I was also working on 'Housefull' around the same time. Now 'Karthik Calling Karthik' was a little understated", Deepika nods in agreement here.
While she is currently occupied with the shoot of 'Break Ke Baad' where she has Imran Khan for company, Deepika is also looking forward to the release of 'Housefull' which is carrying terrific reports due to it's setting of being an out and out family entertainer.
"The genre of 'Housefull' is such where there has to be a lot more enthusiasm in my performance. This is why you would see me in a completely different mood and attire in the film.
You would also see me adopting an entirely different approach in my act as well", describes Deepika who has created quite a buzz in the industry with the full-on glam persona that she has donned for the Akshay Kumar starrer.
Well, one would indeed wait to see a glamorous Deepika back on screen once 'Housefull' hits the screens on 30th April.
